Description
Synthetic analogue of the inhibitory neurotransmitter γ-amino butyric acid (GABA) inhibits seizure activity as well as calcium channel blocker used to inhibit neurons stimulated by pain.
Indications: Adjunctive therapy for dogs with refractory seizures. Chronic pain and neuropathic pain.
Side effects: Sedation
Contra indications: Used with caution in animals with liver or kidney disease.
Dosage:
Dogs 10–15 mg/kg, q8h
Cats 5–10 mg/kg q12h – q8h
